The European Commission, through the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), has published four new sets of guidelines aimed at supporting teachers, school leaders, and education professionals in addressing key aspects of digital education.
The new publications are part of the Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027) and have been designed to provide practical guidance, real-world examples for classroom implementation, and useful resources that reflect the latest developments in digital education.
The four thematic areas cover:
- The ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data in teaching and learning, providing updated guidance on the responsible, safe, and effective use of emerging technologies.
- Tackling disinformation and promoting digital literacy, offering practical tools to help educators foster critical thinking and encourage safe participation in digital environments.
- Making informed decisions about digital educational content, enabling schools and teachers to identify and select high-quality, reliable digital learning resources.
- Teaching computer science in European classrooms, with practical guidance to support the development of modern computing skills and computational thinking.
The guidelines are intended for teachers, schools, education leaders, training providers, policymakers, and anyone involved in education and digital learning.
